Melaleuca

Another Favorite! Do you ever get pimples or suffer from acne? Are you a grown adult and thought you should be done with this?! I’ve also written about Melaleuca when our family has ear infections.

Melaleuca, or Tea Tree oil, is best known for its purifying qualities, which make it useful for cleansing the skin and home surfaces, purifying the air, or promoting healthy immune function.*

Uses

  • For occasional skin irritations, apply 1–2 drops of Melaleuca essential oil onto affected area.
  • Add 1–2 drops to water, citrus drinks, or veggie caps to support healthy immune system function.*
  • Combine 1–2 drops with your facial cleanser for added cleansing properties, or apply to skin after shaving.
  • Apply to fingernails and toenails after showering to purify and keeps nails looking healthy.
  • Add a few drops to a spray bottle with water and use on surfaces to protect against environmental threats.

Directions for Use

Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Internal use: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.
Topical use: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.

So a couple ways that our house has used it is

  1. Apply a little on to a skin blemish like a pimple
  2.  Take a drop of it and put it on a cotton ball and put right into the ear for an ear ache. DO NOT CRAM IT DOWN IN! I just put it loosely into the ear and easy to get back out.

It’s an Oily week! Starting with Correct-X

Each day this week we are going to take a minute and go over a few different oils. These are going to be oils that my family keeps on hand and uses daily!

I love to share my oils. When friends or family tell me they aren’t feeling great, I go right to my Modern Essential Oils book, check out the symptoms and give them the oil that I feel would be best for that.

A coworker of mine said he took a snowboard to his shin, so I had some Correct-X on hand, gave him some and asked him to use it consistantly over the weekend. The pictures below are from applying it a couple times a day. The picture on the left is on Friday, a day or two after it happened. The picture on the right is on Monday when he came back to work. Not completely gone, but you can certainly see the difference in it!

A little bit about Correct-X:

Primary Benefits

  • Frankincense, Helichrysum, Melaleuca, Cedarwood, and Lavender soothe and purify skin
  • Bisabolol is known for its calming effects and ability to promote healthy-looking skin
  • Similar to the natural oils found in skin, Jojoba provides optimal hydration, helping to improve the texture of skin
  • Phellodendron Amurense Bark extract is used to condition the skin.

I know it’s a little graphic. But I swear by Correct-X. Get you Correct-X today!IMG_0657.JPG

Copaiba Oil

Have you heard of Copaiba Essential Oil yet? I love it! It’s what I put in my TMJ blend that I made.

What is Copaiba Oil?

Copaiba essential oil is a distilled oil from an oleoresin called copaiba. This resin is produced as a sap from a tree in South America from the Copaifera genus. Although the resin itself can change its color depending on the ratio of resin to essential oil, once the oil is distilled out, it should be pale yellow in color with a slightly bitter taste and an aroma that is reminiscent of the balsam of the tree. Copaiba is considered to be one of the most anti-inflammatory substances on earth, yet much of the world only uses copaiba as a lacquer or varnish. In traditional medicine, this essential oil has been used extensively by indigenous people and is now spreading around in the world.

The active components in copaiba essential oil are quite powerful, consisting mainly of terpenes, which are hydrocarbons that have significant effects on the functioning of our body. Fortunately for us, most of the side effects of the terpenes found in copaiba essential oil are very beneficial for our health. That being said, if you consume too much of this potent oil, it can cause stomach issues on par with food poisoning. Fortunately, allergies to this essential oil are rare, and it can be used both, for topical applications, and in a diffused state in aromatherapy.

Some of the benefits are:

Eliminates scars, relieves congestion, reduces pain, eliminates infection, improves mood, it’s a diuretic in nature, prevents fungal infections & lowers blood pressure.

Word of Caution: Excessive use of this oil can lead to stomach problems, but generally, this essential oil is very safe. It may be rare, but if you’re willing to put in the effort to acquire it, copaiba essential oil can be a very powerful weapon in your ongoing journey towards great health.
